Chicago Rematch to Open Autumn Series

Ireland begin their Autumn fixtures with a high-profile rematch against the All Blacks  a fixture that stirs memories of their famous 2016 win at the same venue.

Dan Sheehan captains the side for the second time, while Leinster prop Paddy McCarthy is set for his Test debut from the bench.

Farrell Names Strong and Balanced Starting XV

Farrell has selected a powerful and dynamic team. In the back three, Jamie Osborne, Tommy O’Brien, and James Lowe provide pace and attacking flair.

Stuart McCloskey joins Garry Ringrose in midfield, while Jack Crowley partners Jamison Gibson-Park at half-back.

In the pack, Andrew Porter, captain Sheehan, and Tadhg Furlong form a formidable front row.

Behind them, James Ryan and Tadhg Beirne lock the scrum, with a mobile back row of Ryan Baird, Josh van der Flier, and Jack Conan completing the starting XV.

Bench Features McCarthy and Returning Stars

Farrell’s bench features both experience and excitement. Ronan Kelleher, Finlay Bealham, and uncapped prop Paddy McCarthy provide front row cover.

Iain Henderson and the returning Caelan Doris add power in the forwards. In the backs, Craig Casey, Sam Prendergast, and Bundee Aki offer plenty of attacking impact.

Farrell: “A Privilege to Be Back in Chicago”

Speaking ahead of the game, Head Coach Andy Farrell said the team is embracing the sense of occasion.

“It’s a real privilege to be back in Chicago ahead of a huge game against New Zealand,” he said.
“We’ve been received brilliantly by the local community, and there are going to be thousands of Irish supporters cheering us on, which will inspire the team.”

Farrell added that the match carries a special meaning for the squad and especially for debutant Paddy McCarthy.

“The historic nature of this game is something we’re embracing. Paddy has had a fantastic start to the season, and his selection is a testament to his impressive form. We’ll all do our utmost to make it a special weekend for him and his family.”

Anticipation Builds for Soldier Field Clash

Ireland’s meeting with New Zealand is set to be one of the standout fixtures of the Autumn international window.

With a blend of youth, experience, and form players, Farrell’s men will aim to make a strong start to their campaign in front of a passionate Chicago crowd.
