The Waterford county board haven't received any nominations from clubs for the position of senior football manager.
Ephie Fitzgerald stepped down as Deise senior and Under 20 boss on August 26 after two years in charge. Expressions of interest were sought from clubs but none were forthcoming. The process is ongoing with the board looking at candidates from both inside and outside the county.
Waterford are one of three teams currently without a bainsteoir ahead of the 2024 season.
Fellow Division 4 sides Tipperary and Laois are also on the lookout for a new manager.
On his departure, Fitzgerald indicated that some of the panel intend to travel next year. The Cork man fears that Waterford may not field a team at senior level in the near future.
"Maybe, they'll just focus on hurling full stop, I don't know," he told WLR last month. "The immediate future doesn't look very bright to be honest about it. It's actually very worrying if you're really interested in football in the county."
