The Waterford Camogie county board are on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Sean Power from the senior setup.

The Mount Sion club man took the helm in 2022, boasting a CV with All-Ireland success at the age-grade level as well as minor and U21 hurling All-Ireland's with Waterford.

In his year in charge of the senior camogie team, Power's hand was at the tiller as the Déise regained their place in Division One for 2024, as well as reaching the All-Ireland final - ultimately losing to Cork heavily in the decider.

His side suffered just two losses in the calendar year, losing to Tipperary in Munster and then that agonising loss to Cork in the All-Ireland.

Power's time in charge followed Derek Lyons two year stint which saw the team reach the All-Ireland semi-finals for the first time in 63 years.

In 2023, while they did book themselves a place back at the top table of the league, the other notable achievement is the sheer number of Waterford players nominated for the upcoming All-Stars.

Nine players in all have made the shortlist, being narrowly beaten out by the winners Cork who have 11. Annie Fitzgerald, Beth Carton, Brianna O’Regan, Keeley Corbett Barry, Lorraine Bray, Mairead O’Brien, Niamh Rockett,  Orla Hickey and Vikki Falconer are all in the mix for All-Star awards, with Carton also in the running for Camogie player of the year on Saturday night.

The Waterford Camogie County board released a statement to WLR Sport this past hour.

"Huge thanks to Sean for the tremendous work and dedication as well as what he brought to Waterford Camogie in 2023. From the Division 2 success to the great run in the All-Ireland championship, it was historic to be back in the All-Ireland final after so long. Sean has left Waterford camogie in a better place than what he found it in. He brought vision, leadership and excellence all around. He gave the girls great belief, and great preparation and they now look forward to a spring of Division One Camogie."

"We go to the All-Stars this weekend - which is a highlight of the season for the players - with nine Waterford players nominated as well Beth Carton nominated for Camogie Player of the Year. All of the above is historic for Waterford Camogie."

"There will be more news on Sean's successor in the coming week."
