Superb Seamus Power showing despite double-bogey

Seamus Power had a superb second round at the Northern Trust on the PGA Tour, despite a double bogey on the last hole.

The Touraneena man holed six birdies as his putting was on song all evening, leaving him T25 at the close of play on -5, seven shots behind the current leader, Jon Rahm.

Power hit 11 of 18 greens in regulation during his second round.

After a drive to the rough on the 395-yard par-4 third hole, Power conjured a lovely 141 yard approach shot, setting himself up for the birdie.

On the 538-yard par-5 sixth, Power had a birdie after hitting the green in 2 and two putting, moving him to 3 under early on.

At the par-4 16th hole, Power wonderfully chipped in his third shot, carding a birdie for the hole. This moved the 34-year-old to 5 under for the round.

Another birdie followed on the 17th, with Power roaring into potential contention.

Disappointingly on the 18th, Power had a double bogey after hitting the green in 4 and two putting, seeing him finish -5 and -4 for the round.

Seamus will likely need a top 20 finish to progress into the top 70 play-off round of the Fed-Ex Cup but is in a good position with 36 holes left.

Rory McIlroy sank a four-foot putt at the last to make the cut on one under, while Shane Lowry is one behind Seamus Power on  -4.
