A late Jason Gleeson goal gave Rathgormack a 1-14 to 1-5 victory over Clashmore/Kinsalebeg in the first Waterford SFC Quarter Final at Fraher Field.

Eight different players got on the scoresheet for Kenny Hassett's side. Gleeson finished with 1-1, Jason Curry struck four first half points while Conor Murray kicked three from play.

Clashmore made a dream start as Sam Fitzgerald fisted a high ball from Brian Lynch to back of the Rathgormack net in the sixth minute. Last year's runners-up responded with seven unanswered points. County attacker Jason Curry sent over four (two from play and two from frees) and assisted another for Billy Power. Conor Murray and Stephen Curry also raised white flags. Full back Cian Ryan kicked an injury time effort for Clashmore (0-7 to 1-1).

Conor Murray, Adam Murray and Michael Curry opened up a six point gap in the third quarter. Clashmore kept battling and three Brian O'Halloran points left just a kick of a ball between them with six minutes left (0-11 to 1-5). Stephen Curry blasted the ball over at the other end.

On 57 minutes, Jason Gleeson flicked a Curry point attempt past Clashmore goalkeeper Jim Scanlon. Murray shot his third point from play in injury time before substitute Donnacha Hassett got in on the act.
