In the penultimate contest over hurdles at Thurles on Saturday owner David Phelan and Feddans Carrick On Suir trainer John O' Callaghan tasted success with 50/1 outsider Cafe Del Mar striking late for last gasp success.

The Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter on Saturday went the way of one of the Irish visitors with Conor Orr bringing the Bill Durkan trained 12/1 chance Screaming Colours home in front with Young Dev a remote runner up.

It was back to Downpatrick on Sunday for the Ulster National. In a grief-stricken affair in form conditional jockey Mark McDonagh gave 5/2 Spades Are Trumps trained by Gavin Cromwell a patient ride before scoring with plenty to spare.

Point-To-Point

There were three Waterford winners at Saturday's point-to-point fixture in Kilworth, Co Cork.
In the opening race owner/trainer John Halley combined with Stradbally jockey David Kiely to register a comprehensive victory with the easy winner Our Champ.
Cappagh owner Richard McGrath teamed up with trainer Paul Kiely and jockey Richie Kiely to take the second race with Police Academy who came from behind to post a length success.
In the concluding contest Tallow jockey James Hannon drove Queshi Bridge to a four lengths success.
The point-to-point action at Duhallow on Sunday yielded three Waterford victories. In the second race, Portlaw trainer Richard O' Hara sent out Kilbunny Aplasia to register a ten lengths success.
Tallow owner Kay Griffin combined with trainer Michael Griffin to capture the third race with Plan B who recorded a facile win.
Jockey James Hannon went to the front early doors on Crazywork De Vassy in race five and was never subsequently headed, eventually scoring by five lengths.
