County Carlow-based trainer John 'Shark' Hanlon sent out the 16/1 winner Hewick of the valuable Stayers Chase at Sandown Park on Saturday afternoon. The winner was partnered by County Wexford-born jockey Jordan Gainford who still claims a valuable three pounds.

Point to Point Scene

There were two Waterford winners at Sunday's fixture at Dromahane in County Cork. In the second race the Declan Queally trained Heads Or Harps made every yard of the running to triumph by all of 16 lengths.
Tallow jockey James Hannon continued his fine season adding to his tally of winners when guiding Inclusion to a two lengths victory in the fourth contest.

British Champions

The British National Hunt season drew to a close at Sandown Park last Saturday where Irish-born Brian Hughes (2nd title) was crowned champion jockey while Paul Nicholls (13th title) was the champion trainer.

JP McManus (15th title) was the top-earning owner while Kevin Brogan was the leading conditional jockey.
