Having carded a first-round of 74 on Thursday, the Touraneena man knocked in three birdies on the front nine to go into the final two rounds in a tie for 43rd at present.
He is thirteen shots off the lead which is held at present by Patrick Cantlay on -13 - the American has motored five ahead of the field with his nearest competitor Luke List a further five shots back.
Rory McIlroy also arrested his first round slump, carding a -5 66 to sit on -2 and T31.
Power will tee off with Sungjae Im at 6.45pm Irish time this evening, while McIlroy is out with Adam Scott from 8pm.
