It keeps getting better for Semaus Power.

While he may not have won the World Wide Technologies Championship he was within five shots of the winner in Mexico.

A final round of 68 at Mayakoba followed his earlier rounds of 67, 68 & 63 to give him a share of third place and a cheque for $375,560.

The story of the day however is not the third-place finish but more so his jump of three rungs up the world rankings.  The Touraneena man is now 29th in the world a career-best.

He is also 18 clear at the top of the FedEx Cup standings with one win and two top tens.

His chaotic win at the Bermuda Championship saw him climb into the top 30, and this past weekend he's gone one better again.

He got to within four shots of the winner Russel Henley but the American removed any doubt on the front nine when he sunk three back-to-back birdies to close on 70 for his fourth career win.

Power drained two birdies on the front nine, but would only pick up one more shot having made the turn. His approach was typically reliable, but the putting left him down on the day with the ball just not wanting to drop when needed.

"I couldn't get much going on the green" Power said. "My speed was just a fraction off. Early in the week before the rain they were a little quicker and I couldn't quite get adjusted to that slower speed. It was good to hang in there - I hit a lot of good shots today. I was able to get a high finish out of it, but couldn't quite get it going to put any pressure on Russel"

A week off is now on the cards for the West Waterford golfer. He plans to sit out the Cadence Bank Houston Open, but is set to make his return at the RSM Classic on November 17th, because now that he has his three-year exemption he's able to take a week off whenever he fancies it.
