
Patrick Fitzgerald has been named to start as Waterford’s team to face Limerick in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship this Saturday has been announced.
The Ballygunner forward made a notable contribution from the bench in Sunday’s win against Clare and comes in in place of Kieran Bennett.
As for the visitors, they welcome Sean Finn and Dan Morrissey back into defence in place of Barry Murphy and Colin Coughlan.
For Waterford – Billy Nolan will retain his place in goal, whilst the full-back line sees Ian Kenny and Iarlaith Daly line out either side of Prunty. Mark Fitzgerald and Paddy Leavy are named alongside Tadhg de Burca in the half-back line while Jack Prendergast will likely partner Darragh Lyons in midfield.
Kevin Mahony, Jamie Barron and Stephen Bennett are set to take up the half forward positions while Dessie Hutchinson, Fitzgerald and Patrick Curran will hope to provide the goal threat.
For Limerick – Goalkeeper Nickie Quaid starts his second competitive game this year. Mike Casey makes the switch to corner back where he is joined by Sean Finn and Dan Morrissey in the full back line. Barry Nash moves out to the half back line alongside Diarmaid Byrnes and Kyle Hayes.
William O’Donoghue made the switch back to number six and Kyle Hayes was pushed into the Limerick attack against Tipperary. Hayes and O’Donoghue have returned to the positions where they have featured regularly this year.
Gearoid Hegarty, Cian Lynch and Tom Morrissey make up the Limerick half forward line. Aaron Gillane, Shane O’Brien and David Reidy complete the Munster champions’ full forward line.
Cathal O’Neill and Seamus Flanagan make their returns to the match-day squad after missing out on the Tipperary game. Meanwhile, Declan Hannon, Peter Casey and Barry Murphy have not been included in the 26-man panel.
