Local trainer Pat Flynn had a landmark victory yesterday evening as Starspangledwave's success at Dundalk gave the Rathgormack man the 800th winner of his stellar training career.
Starspangledwaves, ridden by Conor Hoban, made practically all the running to land a five-furlong maiden at odds of 7/1 with three and a half lengths in hand.
Speaking to Racing TV afterward, Flynn was delighted with the landmark victory - and was particularly happy with the horse that delivered it for him.

The most famous of Flynn’s crop down the decades was undoubtedly Montelado, who landed the National Hunt Flat at Cheltenham in 1992 before following that up with an amazing victory in the 1993 Supreme Novices Hurdle with Charlie Swan on board.
