The Waterford District Junior League got their defence of the Oscar Traynor Trophy off to an incredible start as they managed to put twelve past the Cork Business League at Ben Wadding Park.

The game finished with a remarkable scoreline of 12-3 in Waterford's favour - exemplifying exactly why they are reigning All-Ireland champions.

Villa striker Alex Phelan scored four, while Tramore's Dara O'Brien chipped in with a hat-trick of his own.

Captain, Portlaw's Darryl Walsh also found the net - as did Villa's Jefferson da Silva, Tramore's Ben Daly and Michael Brennan - and an own goal rounded off the scoring.

Juan de Villa fired a brace and Wadii Dridi were on target for the visitors.

Next up for Waterford is a clash against the Munster Senior League.
