The Waterford footballers lost to thirteen man Limerick by 1-10 to 0-10 in their Division 4 opener at Fraher Field last night.

Adrian Enright fisted in the crucial goal on sixteen minutes for the Shannonsiders who had Paul Maher and Robert Childs sent off in the last quarter on second bookable offences. Full forward Danny Neville nailed three second half points.

Jason Curry converted five placed balls for Waterford (four frees and a 45) while captain Conor Murray kicked three marvellous points from play.

Déise manager Benji Whelan felt that Limerick were sharper in the second half. “They were more efficient in front of goal than what we were. Ten times we had it inside their 45: five wides and one into the keeper. Our scoring percentage was 40 per cent in the second half and it needs to be up around 70 per cent."
