Nine medal winners for Waterford at Munster Secondary Schools Track and Field Finals

Nine athletes from Waterford Schools picked up individual medals at the Munster Secondary Schools Track and Field finals yesterday (Saturday) in Templemore.

At senior level, Katie Nolke of the Ursuline won the 100 Metres hurdles and Meabh O'Connor from Waterpark won the 3000 metres walk .

At intermediate level, Corey Scanlon of St Augustine's won the shot putt and discus, Emmet O'Neill of Abbey CC won the  hammer, Andrew Scanlon from St Declans Kilmacthomas took the medal for the javelin, and Doireann Ni Ici from Meán Scoil San Nioclás clinched the 2000 metres walk.

At junior level, Ellis Mc Hugh from Ard Scoil na Mara Tramore won the high jump. and in the 1 mile u16, Abbey Community College's Eve Dunphy also claimed a win.

Aside from the gold winners, there were plenty of silver and bronze medals handed out to Waterford athletes in a very successful day for the county.
