Former Waterford captain Stephen Molumphy is set to be appointed as the new Kerry senior hurling manager.
The Ballyduff Upper man will be formally appointed on a two-year-deal on September 29th, replacing Fintan O'Connor.
Pat Bennett and Shane Briggs are set to join Molumphy's backroom team in the Kingdom.
Molumphy was a selector as part of Liam Cahill's Waterford senior hurling backroom team in 2020, but left the role due to work commitments with the Irish Defence Forces.
The 37-year-old saw off strong candidates for the vacant post in Tom Kingston of UCC and Cork and Davy Fitzgerald's right hand man Seoirse Bulfin.
Molumphy hurled excellently for Waterford for nine years and won an All-Star in 2007, as well as captaining Ballyduff Upper to the senior county title.
The midfielder captained the Déise on multiple occasions and played in the 2008 All-Ireland final, as well as winning National Hurling League and Munster honours.
In 2018, Molumphy joined Davy Fitzgerald's Wexford senior hurling management team as a selector. They won the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship that year with a famous defeat of Kilkenny in the final.
Molumphy has also previously served as the manager of Castlemartyr in Cork for two years. He led them to promotion in his time on Leeside.
Kerry were runners up in this year's Joe MacDonagh Cup, and lost out to Antrim in the Christy Ring Cup final in 2020.
