The Waterford minor hurlers will look to make it two wins from two tomorrow night when they take on Limerick at Fraher Field.

The Déise got off to the perfect start last time out beating Tipperary by 1-16 to 0-17 in Thurles as Cormac Spain’s goal proved decisive.

Manager James O’Connor is urging the people of Waterford to get out and support the team.

I’d be very disappointed as a Waterford man if we don’t fill Fraher Field on Friday night. I’d be pushing every single genuine Waterford supporter to turn out Friday night no matter what and get these lads over the line. It’s so important for Waterford hurling that we have good minors coming through. We don’t have the number of players that the likes of Cork and Tipperary have. When we have a good team, we should really get behind them. I’m hoping for a massive, massive turnout for Friday night.”

The team for Friday’s clash has been named.

The Deise defeated Limerick at minor level last year and O’Connor knows the result will prove crucial in the long run.

“Our goal is to win Friday night and get qualified for the All-Ireland Series no matter what. That’s number one. The goal at the start of the year was to get into a Munster Final. Once we get there, that goal might change. Until then, that is my goal to get into a Munster Final.”

O’Connor says the addition of Paul Flynn and Tommy Ryan to his backroom team has made a positive difference.

“We all know what Paul Flynn did as a player himself. Tommy was the same way, a fantastic player. I personally think they have brought a huge amount to it. I’m delighted now I brought them in. I had two or three great lads as well last year. They just went different ways, and the two boys have been a breath of fresh air through the whole thing.”
