De La Salle are through to the last eight of the Waterford SHC as an injury time goal from super sub Eddie Meaney sealed a pillar to post win against Tallow under the Friday night lights in Fraher Field (1-28 to 1-13). Meaney has now scored 3-2 from play in three appearances off the bench this season.

Reuben Halloran hit ten points for Ian Flynn's men (eight dead balls) while Jack Fagan, Jack Twomey and Cormac Dawson all fired four from play. Twomey's solo runs tormented the Tallow defence throughout. Meaney turned up with 1-1 in another late cameo.

Mark Stewart gave Tallow hope on 37 minutes when he flicked a Tommy Ryan sideline cut to the net but five points was as close as they got. Salle responded with four white flags, including two for Brian Cunningham, while Stephen Murphy spurned a goal chance at the other end.

Seven Halloran singles and three apiece from Dawson and Twomey gave wind assisted De La Salle a 0-17 to 0-10 half time advantage. Tallow goalkeeper Shaun O’Sullivan dived full length to deny Twomey a goal. Murphy shot three from play for Tallow while Ryan rifled over four frees. The Bridesiders now enter the relegation play-offs.
