Waterford FC have confirmed that Matt Lawlor has re-joined the club as Interim Head Coach, as the process of finding a permanent manager has begun.

Keith Long was sacked by the Blues following Friday’s night’s 4-0 loss at home to Sligo Rovers – their sixth successive defeat in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Lawlor is no stranger to the RSC – having previously served as Long’s assistant for a seven-month period.

The English man will lead the club for the forthcoming weeks – beginning with tomorrow’s Munster derby clash away to Cork City at Turner’s Cross.

Kick off is at 5pm – with the Blues going into the crucial clash on their worst run of form since April 2007.
