Waterford Under 20 football captain Tommy Martin from Gaultier is proud to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. John Martin was part of the first Waterford football team to play at Croke Park back in 1966.

"He is the one that got me into it at a very young age. I started in Gaultier at the age of six and I've just stuck with it ever since. He's always telling me don't give up and keep pushing on. It's got me to here."

Tommy was surprised to be chosen as skipper. "It's a great honour. There's some phenomenal talent on the panel so I wasn't expecting it. I'm just delighted to be representing my county at this level. Hopefully, we can get some results out of these three weeks. We're only back since January but the lads have put in phenomenal work and we're raring to go now."

Ronan O'Connell (Portlaw) will act as Déise vice-captain. The management team consists of Gavin Whelan, Niall Collins, Eddie Kirwan, Niall Cronin, Tom Guiry, Seanie McGrath and Cathal Scanlon.
