Manchester City are champions of England for the third year running after a dramatic final day in the English Premier League.

Liverpool supporters thought the title was heading to Anfield momentarily - with City trailing 2-0 to Aston Villa at the Etihad.

A Matty Cash header and a superb strike from former Liverpool fan favourite Philippe Coutinho put Steven Gerrard’s men two to the good against the champions-elect.

Liverpool had to come from behind themselves, Petro Neto giving Wolves the lead after just 2 minutes - but Sadio Mane then struck to level at Anfield and move Jurgen Klopp’s men to the top of the table momentarily.

Liverpool pushed to go ahead as news filtered around the ground of Manchester City’s struggle, but before they knew it - City, in the hallmark of champions, were level.

A header from substitute Ilkay Gundogan began the fight back, before Rodri’s strike from distance and a Gundogan tap in at the far post from a sumptuous Kevin De Bruyne pass completed a remarkable turnaround in all of five minutes.

Mo Salah and Andy Robertson fired late on as Liverpool did eventually muster a 3-1 win, but City held on to turn disaster into delirium at the Etihad. An emotional Guardiola in floods of tears at the final whistle as the men in blue were pushed all the way.

Elsewhere, Leeds secured their survival as goals from Raphinha and a 90th minute winner from Jack Harrison away at Brentford saw them overtake Burnley, who lost out 2-1 to Newcastle, duly being relegated as a result.

Spurs booked their place in the UEFA Champions League with a 5-0 win away to already-relegated Norwich, with Heung-min Son scoring twice to land the Golden Boot.

West Ham failed to capitalise on Crystal Palace’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, as United secured the final Europa League place as a result of Brighton’s 3-1 success over the Hammers.

Arsenal were 5-1 winners at home to Everton, Chelsea were 2-1 winners against Watford, while Leicester saw off Southampton by 4 goals to 1.
