Waterford will be without both Calum Lyons and Neil Montgomery for the 2025 campaign.

The Deise were defeated 1-15 to 0-10 by Cork in a challenge match at Fraher Field yesterday in aid of Friends of Brian Greene and Waterford Hospice.

It had already been confirmed before the game that Waterford will be without Colin Dunford and Jack Fagan this season owing to travel, while Lyons' commitment was unconfirmed as the Ballyduff Lower man is currently in Australia.

Speaking to WLR Sport after the game, Queally confirmed that neither Lyons nor Montgomery will feature for the Deise this season.

"Neil has moved to London and his work has taken him there. That's where he is going to be for the foreseeable future. Calum Lyons unfortunately isn't coming home from Australia either - he's staying in Australia. The two of them are going to be big losses for the year ahead."

Waterford begin their National League campaign against Carlow on Sunday February 2nd.
