Dan Shanahan is predicting another Limerick-Kilkenny All Ireland hurling showdown. Both semi finals are down for decision at Croke Park this weekend.
He fancies the Shannonsiders to get the better of Galway on Saturday evening. "Limerick have done all this before. I think it will be their best All Ireland if they are going to win it, with the lads they're missing. John Kiely, Paul Kinnerk and Caroline Currid keep them all going. You see after the Munster final what it meant to win five in a row. To see the fans on the field after it. Tom Morrissey, a brilliant player all year, was being interviewed and the applause he got from the fans, it was unbelievable. They've been winning games by a point or two and lost to Clare by a point and won by a point. Will their luck run out? The one thing I can guarantee you with Limerick is that they will keep going to the end. I think they will have too much firepower for a great Galway team."
Conor Cleary's shoulder injury is a worry for Clare in the second semi final against Kilkenny. The Banner full back sat out the Munster final and the All Ireland quarter final. "He's a real unsung hero. It's only when he's gone that you miss him. David McInerney didn't play against Dublin, John Conlon went off early and Darragh Lohan came in at corner back. McInerney is back and so is Conlon. I think McInerney has to go full back and build around him after that. If Clare play with the same full back line, TJ Reid, Eoin Cody and Adrian Mullen could start inside there and no matter what kind of ball they get, they could trouble the Clare full back line."
