Koktail Divin delivered a powerful Grade 1 performance at Aintree to land the William Hill Manifesto Novices’ Chase, bouncing back strongly after a disappointing run at Cheltenham and confirming his place among the season’s most promising young chasers.
Ridden with confidence and composure by Waterford jockey Darragh O’Keeffe, the Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding travelled prominently throughout the race and produced a strong staying finish to see off his rivals by two and a quarter lengths.

The race at Aintree Racecourse unfolded dramatically when 1-2 favourite Lulamba came down at the 10th fence, instantly reshaping the contest. Blueking d’Oroux took over briefly in front, but Koktail Divin, always travelling smoothly in behind, loomed up to challenge turning for home.
Once asked for his effort, Koktail Divin responded generously, showing the same relentless attitude that trainer Henry de Bromhead has long believed in. Despite concerns after his Cheltenham run over a longer trip, the drop back in distance proved ideal as he powered clear late on.
For Waterford’s O’Keeffe, it was another standout moment on one of jump racing’s biggest stages. The local jockey, who continues to build a reputation for big-race riding, delivered a polished performance under pressure, timing his challenge perfectly and steering Koktail Divin to Grade 1 glory.
After the race, de Bromhead praised both horse and rider, highlighting the strong jumping and professionalism shown throughout. Connections have indicated the horse may now be put away for the season, with targets next year potentially including races like Down Royal’s second-season novice events.
From a Waterford perspective, O’Keeffe’s success adds another proud chapter to a rising career, reinforcing his status as one of Ireland’s most exciting young National Hunt riders.
