Kilrossanty and An Rinn progress to the last eight

Kilrossanty saw off near neighbours Stradbally 1-11 to 1-8 under the Sunday night lights in Fraher Field to set up a quarter final clash with Brickey Rangers. An injury time free from goalkeeper Josh Kay wrapped up a hard earned win for Darren Mulhearne's men who kicked ten wides over the hour.

The green and gold raced 4-1 ahead in the first quarter. Michael O'Brien fisted to the net on twelve minutes for Stradbally after Rory Fennell dropped in a high delivery. Kilrossanty hit back straight away as Alan Dunwoody found the top corner of the net (1-4 to 1-1). Points from Michael Mullaney, O'Brien and Pa Skehan brought the sides level. Donie Fitzgerald's third free and an injury time effort from Jack Power edged Kilrossanty a point up at the interval (1-6 to 1-5). They were guilty of eight first half wides and Padraig Fitzgerald hit a piledriver off the post.

Two Pa Whyte points moved the leaders five up entering the last quarter (1-10 to 1-5). Shane Aherne registered Stradbally's first second single point on 46 minutes. In a scrappy finish. frees Michael and Eoin O'Brien narrowed the gap to two. Caoimhin Walsh made a goal saving tackle as Aherne bore down on the Kilrossanty posts. Kay sealed victory five minutes into added time with a long range free. 19 time champions Stradbally now face a relegation play-off against Portlaw.

Former Waterford goal getter Liam Ó Lonáin netted twice as An Rinn defeated Portlaw 5-10 to 1-10 at Fraher Field to reach the Waterford SFC Quarter Finals. The Munster Under 21 medallist from 2003 scored 2-1 in the second half before he was substituted on 42 minutes.

An Rinn were awarded a penalty on the quarter hour mark for a foot block on a goal bound shot from Ó Lonáin. Oisín Ó Ceallaigh saw his spot kick saved by Richie Fitzpatrick but referee Eoin Morrissey ordered a retake. Ray Ó Ceallaigh stepped forward this time and found the back of the net.

Portlaw got back level on 17 minutes when Daryl Walsh fisted home a high ball from John Power (1-3 each). Liam Ó Síothcháin fired An Rinn back in front with another green flag after a point attempt from Ó Lonáin struck the post. Jack Ó Floinn's second point of the half gave the Gaeltacht side a 2-5 to 1-4 half time advantage.

On 34 minutes, Ó Lonáin flicked the ball past Fitzpatrick after Ó Síothcháin played him in. Ó Lonáin lashed in his second major four minutes later with the aid of the crossbar. Substitute Conor Mac Diarmada raised An Rinn's fifth green flag on 48 minutes. Tomás Mac an tSaoir saved a late Portlaw penalty from Daryl Walsh.
