A fifteen-strong Competitive Squad from Kilbarry Gymnastics Academy (KGA) travelled to the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena to take part in Gymnastics Ireland’s first National Series Competition of 2025 (22 and 23 March) bringing an amazing haul of 30 All-Ireland Medals – Fifteen Gold, Eight Silver and Seven Bronze back to Waterford!

Over the weekend, Artistic gymnasts from all corners of Ireland competed in the Apparatus and All-Around National Championships for Levels 1 to 5 with over 2000 gymnasts taking part and 5000 spectators supporting across the two days.

Saturday saw Freya Healy finish in first place, winning the Gold Medal and taking the All-Around National Champion Title at Level 5 (u16).

Freya also came First on Beam taking the Gold Medal. Also at Level 5 (u16), Lucy O’Shea had an excellent competition taking the Gold Medal and first place in the Floor Apparatus Final and Third Place and the Bronze Medal on Beam.

Also on Saturday Chloe O’Donnell finished in first place taking the All-Around National Champion Title at Level 1 (o11).

Chloe also came in first place on Bars, winning the Gold Medal, and second on Beam taking the Silver Medal.

In the Level 4 (o15) Competition, Katie Roche finished in first place, taking the All-Around National Champion Title. Katie also finished in first place on Beam and Floor taking Gold Medals in both Apparatus. Also at Level 4 (o15,) Iseult Hall finished in third place in the All-Around Final and also finished in second place on Bars, winning the Silver Medal and third on Beam, taking the Bronze Medal.

Toni Chilton and Marta Doroshko also had an excellent competition at Level 4 (o15)

In Level 4 (u15) Shona Pidgeon finished in second place in the National All-Around Competition taking the Silver Medal. Shona also finished first in Bars, taking the Gold Meda,l and in third place on Floor taking the Bronze Medal.

At Level 3 (u11) Sarah Cullinane finished in first place on Vault taking the Gold Medal and in third place on Floor, taking the Bronze Medal. At Level 3 (u12), Maya Richardson finished in second place on Bars and Beam taking Silver Medals in both.

Sunday saw five gymnasts from KGA compete Eve O’Donnell (L4 u14), Ava Pierce (L4 u11), Evelyne De Paor (L5 u13), Hannah Ryan (L1 u9), and Mya O’Neil (L4 u13).

Eve O’Donnell finished in third place in the National All-Around Competition taking the Bronze Medal in the National All-Around Competition at Level 4 (u14). Eve also finished in first place on Bars taking the Gold Medal and in second place on Floor taking the Silver Medal

Ava Pierce finished in second place in the National All-Around Competition at Level 4 (u11) taking home the Silver Medal. Ava also finished in first place on Bars taking the Gold Medal in the Apparatus Final and in third place on Beam taking the Bronze Medal.

Hannah Ryan finished in first place taking the All-Around National Champion Title at Level 1 (u9).

Hannah also finished in first place on Beam and Floor taking Gold Medals in both and in second place on Vault taking the Silver Medal.  Evelyne De Paor (L5 u13) and Mya O’Neil (L4 u13) also both had an excellent competition.

Head Coach Maddie Crooke was delighted with the results from the City’s only Competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Club; “I couldn’t be prouder of our gymnasts; they all held their own on the national stage showing their hard work and dedication. I would also like to thank our coaches, judges, and families who we are all incredibly thankful for. It was another great weekend of National Series Championships at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena”.

A seven-strong coaching and judging team from KGA travelled up to Dublin with the gymnasts; Maddie Croke, Racheal Egan, Zuzia Bacela, Lindsey Sheehan, Sharon Whelan, Alina Andrei, and Olivia O’Brien.
