Waterford FC head coach Keith Long has left the club with immediate effect.
The Dubliner has overseen a run in form that has seen the Blues lose their last six League of Ireland Premier Division matches, with last night’s 4-0 defeat at home to bottom side Sligo Rovers proving to be the final straw.
Long guided the club back to the League of Ireland Premier Division, and oversaw a season which saw the Blues cement their place back in Irish football’s top tier last year.
Owner Jamie Pilley said: “I’d like to thank Keith for his efforts and commitment over the past two years at Waterford Football Club.
“He will be fondly remembered by all at the club for his role in returning the club to the Premier Division and this decision wasn’t one which was taken easily.
“However, the recent run of results meant it necessary for a change. We now plan to take our time to ensure we find the right man to move the club forward.”
The Club will issue a further update on the first team staff in due course.
The Blues return to action on Monday when they face Cork City in a Munster derby at Turner’s Cross.
