West Waterford's Kate Veale was victorious in the Netherlands over the weekend when she took top honours in the Dutch 10km Race Walking Championships in Tilburg.
The former Olympic Youth Gold medallist came home in a time of 49 minutes and 15 seconds to take the title for a second successive season.
Speaking to Gavin Whelan on On The Ball, Kate she's always aiming for continuous improvement with a number of big events in her sights in the coming months.
"This is the first race of the season. It was disappointing last year having qualified for the Worlds and Europeans but I wasn't sent. It's just good to refocus, start the year off, see where I'm at and take the momentum of the win with me going forward - so I'm happy."
Kate will return to action this weekend in Switzerland following her success in Tilburg, and she says last year's setbacks are firmly at the back of her mind. It's all positive going forward.
"Switzerland next weekend wasn't on the plan, but plans are made to change I guess. I'm going to Germany too but the main focus is our own National Championships on the 18th of December. It's about picking and choosing your races really."
