Kacper Skwierczyński signs for Waterford FC

Waterford FC have announced the signing of Kacper Skwierczyński from Ruch Chorzów ahead of the 2024 League of Ireland season.

The winger joins the Blues on loan from Polish Ekstraklasa side Ruch Chorzów, where Kacper made six appearances in the top flight of Polish Football.

The 21-year-old began his career in Pogon Siedlce, before moving to Polish giants Legia Warsaw where he spent five years in their academy.

Kacper made over 40 appearances for Legia Warsaw II, scoring six times. He also made two appearances for Legia Warsaw – one of which came in the 2021 Europa League Group Stage against Russian side Spartak Moscow.

The exciting winger brings an abundance of pace & skill to Keith Long’s side, as the Blues continue their preparations for life in the Premier Division in 2024.

Head Coach Keith Long is excited at the signing of Kacper, commenting:

“Kacper’s an exciting player; quick, good feet, good balance, will give the team good competition in wide areas, and hopefully get the fans excited. He’s an out-and-out winger coming from a good standard & good background from Legia Warsaw to then Ruch Chorzów, where he’s played for their first-team in the Polish Premier Division.

Hopefully he will adapt quickly and hit the ground running in terms of coming into the group and playing for Waterford FC, so we’re looking forward to the options that he will give us. He can play off either side, he’s an exciting, young, tricky winger; full of those attributes that you look for in wide players.”

Kacper Skwierczyński spoke about signing for the Blues ahead of the 2024 season:

“I am really happy to join Waterford FC. It’s definitely a new challenge for me because I’m leaving my home country, learning the language, meeting new people and a new culture. I’m here to show my best and help the team achieve the best results.

I have had two training sessions so far here. We have a great training facility with several pitches, two gyms, a sports hall, so everything a player needs to develop.

Keith [Long] is a very nice, open and helpful person. I feel great support from him and from all the people in the club, which makes it easier for me to adapt. He stands out for his professionalism and his style of play suits me very well. Keith wants to play attacking football and stick to it, so I can’t wait to get going.”
