
Molumby Claims November Waterford Sports Award
Jayson Molumby has won the November Waterford Sports Award, in association with WLR and the Granville Hotel. The Cappoquin native enjoyed an outstanding month for both club and country, earning recognition with the Jayson Molumby Waterford Sports Award after a series of memorable.
Jayson Molumby Waterford Sports Award Honours Historic Ireland Performances
Molumby missed Ireland’s 2–0 victory over Portugal due to suspension. He returned for the decisive winner-takes-all clash against Hungary in Budapest.
He produced a trademark all-action display in midfield as Ireland twice fought back from losing positions. The Boys in Green secured a dramatic 3–2 victory, with Troy Parrott scoring a hat-trick. Parrott struck the winning goal in the final minute, triggering scenes of celebration on a historic day for Irish football.
Club Success with West Bromwich Albion
November also proved memorable for Molumby at club level. He scored the decisive goal as West Bromwich Albion completed a thrilling 3–2 comeback win against Swansea City.
West Brom trailed 2–0 before Molumby struck late to earn three vital points in their Championship play-off push. He also impressed in a victory over Oxford United and featured regularly for both club and country throughout the month.
Looking Ahead
Molumby said he was delighted to receive the award as he prepares for a busy festive period with West Bromwich Albion. His focus will then turn to international duty in March 2026, when Ireland face Czechia in the FIFA World Cup play-off semi-finals. Each month, the WLR Granville Hotel Waterford Sports Awards recognise an outstanding local sports star.
The 12 monthly winners will attend a black-tie Gala Banquet at the Granville Hotel in January 2026. On the night, organisers will reveal the overall WLR Granville Hotel Waterford Sports Star of the Year, along with the newest inductee into the Waterford Sporting Hall of Fame.
