At the third time of asking in 2023, Gary Hurley made the cut on the DP World Tour and in doing so, earned the chance to play the full weekend at the Thailand Classic.
Tied for 66th at the end of the four days, Hurley has made inroads on his early season form which he can now hopefully carry forward to next week's Hero Indian Open.
Friday was Gary's best showing for the weekend when he shot a 67 for 5 under. Having avoided all but one dropped shot on Friday to make the cut, Hurley was unable to maintain that form from the previous day, a lot of the good work was handed back with 75 which saw more shots handed back than what he picked up. A double bogey on the 18th was an unfortunate black mark on the card at the end of the round.
Sunday however was a return to more steady play. While he did drop three (8, 9 & 17) he was able to soften the blow with birdies on the 2nd, 11th & 12th to end the day level par, and 3 under for the tournament.
His Irish compatriots John Murphy and Tom McKibbin both failed to make the cut.
Fellow West Waterford man Seamus Power is back on the fairways for the Genesis Invitational from 5.22 pm.
The world #28 is tied for 15th on 5 under ahead of the final round where he remains best of the Irish, albeit narrowly.
Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are both one shot further back and will be out on the course just before 5 pm.
