Honeysuckle, one of the stars of Henry de Bromhead's Knockeen stable in Waterford, will make a final appearance at next month's Cheltenham Festival.
Having been denied her fourth Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown at the weekend, losing out to the Willie Mullins-trained 'State Man', there was speculation that the nine-year-old could potentially enter retirement.
However, it has now been confirmed she will feature at the Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
At last year's Festival, Honeysuckle claimed her second Champion Hurdle in the hands of jockey Rachael Blackmore.
It's understood owner, Kenny Alexander, felt that the Mares' Hurdle might better suit her, and his Racing Manager, Peter Molony, took to Twitter earlier today to make the announcement.
One last hurrah for Honeysuckle! Barring accidents, injury, illness or extremes of ground she will be prepared for another tilt at The Close Brothers Mares Hurdle Gd1 @CheltenhamRaces on Tuesday 14th of March. 🤞🤞🤞 pic.twitter.com/CS7nPMb1I2
