It was a day to forget for Waterford's The Nire who have bowed out of the Munster Senior Club Football Championship at the quarter final stage this afternoon.
Scores were hard to come by in the opening half as the sides were level at half-time, two points apiece.
Kyle Cuddy opening the scoring for the Nire who had plenty of possession in that opening half, but failed to make it count on the scoreboard.
Dermot Ryan cancelled out a free from Gavin Cooney in the 30th minute, as the sides went in all-square at the change of ends.
The Nire opened the second half scoring with a fisted point from Aaron Ryan, but it was the Clare champions who completely took over after this as they bossed the remainder of the game and punished every Nire mistake.
The home side found the back of the net three times within 14 minutes.
For Ennis, Gavin Cooney and Mark McInerney ended with 3-8 between them; the full forward duo were deadly for the Clare champions.
Cooney finished up with 2-4, McInerney with 1-4, as they eased their side into the Munster Semi-Finals.
Midfielder Darren O'Neill also got his name on the scoresheet later on, while Philip Talty kicked two points upon his introduction and to compound a bad afternoon for the Nire, they lost Craig Guiry through a second yellow card late on.
Dermot Ryan ended as top scorer with 3 points for the Nire.
Another disappointing day in Munster for them. They are the Waterford two-in-a-row champions but will no doubt be disappointed with their effort today.
Éire Óg of Ennis advance to play Kerins O'Rahilly's of Kerry in the Munster Semi-Final in two weeks' time.
