Former Déise manager Michael Ryan rates Jamie Barron as one of Waterford's best ever hurlers.
Saturday's Munster SHC clash between Waterford and Tipperary will be our George Corbett Skoda Big Match here on WLR.
The three-time All Star marked his 100th senior appearance in a white and blue shirt with a man of the match display against Cork two weeks ago. Ryan thinks that he can produce another big performance at home to Tipp.
"He's an absolutely crucial player. Tommy Walsh said that he is the heartbeat of the team. In the conversation of the greatest Waterford hurlers of all-time, Jamie Barron has to be in there and we've had some really good players over the years. That's how important he is. He played a slightly different role the last day. He wasn't out around the middle so much, he drifted across the half back line. He can score off left and right; he has great energy. There's always a goal in Jamie, 1-3 was phenomenal. Over the years, he has done this. This is no surprise, this isn't new for Jamie Barron. He is a top, top player."
Join Tomás McCarthy and Fergal Hartley on Saturday for the George Corbett Skoda Big Match from 5.45.
