Waterford's wait for an All-Ireland hurling crown continues after the Déise fell just short in a pulsating encounter with Galway this afternoon.
It was a full house in Croke Park as an estimated 30,000 hopeful Waterford fans made the trip to the capital for the nation's premier sporting event.
Many watched the match at a special viewing in the Apple market, as well as in pubs and family homes from Dunmore East to Clashmore.

It started well for Galway, with knocking four points over without reply. But Waterford came roaring back into the game with a goal from captain Kevin Moran.
Both teams traded scores before Waterford nabbed another goal, this time thanks to a goalmouth scramble with it not being entirely clear who got the final touch, either Kieran or Shane Bennett.

That left the score at half-time Galway 0-14 Waterford 2-7. In the second half, Waterford managed to take the lead more than once thanks to scores from Pauric Mahony.
Unfortunately Galway came back and were able to overcome Waterford thanks to a flurry of points, with Joe Canning in particular proving lethal at frees.
The game came to an end with the score stood at Galway 0-26 Waterford 2-17, a three point win for the Tribesmen.
