The Waterford county board has confirmed that Davy Fitzgerald will stay on as senior hurling manager for 2024.

The Clare man received a two-year term, with the option of a third, when he was appointed in August 2022. The board held talks with Fitzgerald last week about his plans for next season.

Waterford exited the Munster championship in May after defeats to Limerick, Cork and Clare. They finished the provincial campaign on a high with a 1-24 to 0-21 win over Tipperary at FBD Semple Stadium.

Discussions are ongoing with Ephie Fitzgerald about his future as Déise senior and Under 20 football manager. Interviews for the vacant minor football and Under 20 hurling positions are due to take place next week.
