According to reports in the Irish Examiner, Waterford GAA are set to announce the new county senior hurling manager tomorrow evening.
The county board and Déise executive are said to be on standby with talks having intensified with former Waterford boss Davy Fitzgerald in the last 24 hours.
The Clare native served as Waterford manager between 2008 and 2011, bringing the county to four consecutive All Ireland semi finals, the 2008 All Ireland final and Munster success in 2010.
Fitzgerald announced this week that he will be leaving his role as a coach with the Cork camogie side following their All Ireland final loss at the hands of Kilkenny on Sunday. It’s been widely reported across national media outlets that he is set for a second stint in Waterford - replacing Liam Cahill who has since taken the reins in Tipperary.
Fitzgerald has previously managed both Clare and most recently Wexford, with the 51-year-old guiding the Banner to the Liam McCarthy Cup in 2013.
