Waterford FC 5
St. Michael’s AFC 0
Waterford FC cruised into the second round of the FAI Cup on Saturday evening with a comprehensive victory away to Tipperary side, St. Michael’s AFC.
The Blues only had to wait 28 seconds to get their noses in front, who else but the prolific Ronan Coughlan, popping up with his 29th goal of the season. The 26-year-old is now just three goals away from breaking the Blues’ all time scoring record for one season.
New signing Sam Perry added the second midway through the first half, before Connor Parsons continued his run of scoring form by popping up with the third on the cusp of the interval, as Keith Long’s men went into the break three goals to the good.
Another of the new signings was on hand to score the fourth, as Charlie Cresswell got his first Blues goal - and a day of firsts it proved, 16-year-old Romeo Akachukwu was on hand to score his first senior goal for Waterford, to make it 5-0 and book the Blues’ place in the next round of the cup.
