Ephie Fitzgerald has returned to the role of Waterford senior football manager.
The Nemo Rangers clubman had been replaced by Paul Shankey following his departure – but he now serves as Shankey’s successor.
His selectors are set to be announced in due course.
With Nemo Rangers, he presided over a remarkable spell, delivering four consecutive Cork Senior Football Championships (2005–2008) and two Munster titles.
In 2014, Fitzgerald guided Ballylanders of Limerick to a county championship. He also contributed to the Limerick senior footballers, who reached an All-Ireland quarter-final in 2011, and later spent time with the Clare senior set-up as coach and selector. He briefly managed the Cork minors.
Fitzgerald guided Cork ladies footballers to the All-Ireland title in his first season and added National League titles in 2016 and 2017.
He coached the Deise from 2021 to 2023 – making notable strides during his tenure.
Meanwhile, Butlerstown man Brendan Kearney has been appointed as the new Waterford minor football manager, succeeding De La Salle’s Eddie Mulligan.
He has been appointed on a one-year-term and Vinny Murray (Rathgormack); Niall Byrne (De La Salle); Brendan Breen (Stradbally) and Thomas Maloney (Gaultier) will serve as his selectors.
