Dunhill have the chance to become the first Waterford hurling team to secure their place in a Munster final this weekend.
They face the Kerry senior champions Kilmoyley in the intermediate semi-final in Páirc Uí Rinn tomorrow following their quarter-final success a fortnight ago.
Poor conditions in Ennis yielded a 0.8 to 0.6 win for Tom Casey's team when they faced Smith O' Brien, but the wet weather shouldn't be as much of a factor in Cork.
Speaking to WLR Sport this week, Caseys says that while the result didn't blow the socks off anybody, the fact that they stood to be counted when it mattered is what should be taken from the outing.
"We didn't play well in Ennis, but still we were there when it mattered. Actually, if you look back on it, we lead at the first water break after a bad start, we lead at half time, lead at the second water break and most importantly, we were ahead at the finish. in That means a lot, you know, these fellas are full of confidence. It won't bother them going down to Pairc Uí Rinn on Sunday"
Dunhill are joined with Bunmahon this season and Casey remarks that the early going proved challenging, Paddy Mullally from Glenmore who has stepped into the coaching role has had a massive impact.
"These are without doubt the most united group that I've ever come across. For a crowd who three years ago - yeah, they knew each other, but then they gelled. It started last year, went on, and just continued on this year. Paddy helped the situation an awful lot by the way he got them to get on. He was the boss. He's the boss and that's it. Everything went through him"
Selector William Harney is hoping that the side can improve on their most recent outing, as they will need to up their game significantly if they are to come out on top of the Kingdom's senior title holders.
W"e can only focus on what we can control. There's no point in us worrying about what's outside of our control. We know our own performance last day - we weren't satisfied with it. It will be a focus on bringing that up a couple of gears. Once we control what we can control and improve, we'd be hopeful enough that everything goes right on the day for us."
