Dungarvan United women retained the Waterford Women’s League title on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues lifted the league title with aplomb after a statement 5-1 victory over fellow Waterford powerhouses Benfica.

Eimear Fennell kickstarted the scoring inside the opening five minutes before Rebecca Hogan, Alana Kirwan and Mary Kate Morrissey ensured their side had a four goal lead at the break.

Leah O’Donoghue pulled one back for the city club early into the second half but it was to be Dungarvan’s day as Morrissey struck a second and the Blues’ fifth en route to the title.
