Nire defender Dermot Ryan is the November winner of the WLR Granville Hotel GAA Award.
Ryan was man of the match in the county football final against Rathgormack as he kicked three points.
The Nire survived a late onslaught from Comeragh rivals Rathgormack to take the Waterford Senior Football Championship title for the first time since 2018.
The attacking wing-back was a key man as Michael Ryan's side captured the Conway Cup for the tenth time.
Dermot said they were delighted to get over the line by the smallest of margins.
"We knew it was going to be a really tough game against Rathgormack and that's what it was, as finals usually are. At the start of the year it was our aim to get into the county final and hopefully win back the Conway Cup and luckily throughout the year things went our way and we were able to achieve that goal."
Ryan says working with Michael Ryan is great, as he and his management team bring a lot of experience and knowledge and sets a high standard for the players between him.
He finished the championship with 16 points in four games, and makes sure to get lots of extra practice in taking frees.
"With the frees it's an important part of the game now to be taking all the chances you get, especially with the dead ball situations you have to try and convert as a high a percentage as you can. So for the most part I was happy enough with how they went."
This is his first monthly award and he says he's delighted especially with the calibre of people who have won this competition this yea.
Dermot told WLR Sport of his high hopes for both club and county in 2022. Take a listen here:
