The Waterford under 20 footballers went down to Limerick by 2-9 to 1-6 on a miserable Monday night in Fraher Field.

Goals in either half from David O'Shaughnessy and Darragh Murray saw the Shannonsiders advance to the Munster semi finals.

O'Shaughnessy's penalty on 18 minutes was the difference between the teams at half time (1-5 to 0-5). Cian Browne kicked Waterford's only point from play on 28 minutes, a fine effort from 45 metres. Kyle Cuddy knocked over three frees and Tom O'Connell converted one.

Points from Darragh Bridgeman, Eoin McGrath and Jamie Baynham moved the Treaty men six up early in the second period. Conditions worsened as the rain started to pelt down. On 42 minutes, Conall Ó Duinn and Emmet Rigter set up Darragh Murray for Limerick's second green flag.

Déise skipper DJ Kiely struck their only second half point on 45 minutes. Sub Eoin O'Callaghan fired home a consolation goal five minutes into injury time after he was supplied by Evan Foley.

Limerick will entertain Cork in the Munster semi final next Monday night.
