Waterford open their 2026 Centra National Camogie League Division 1A campaign this Saturday with a home clash against reigning champions Cork at Azzurri Walsh Park (2 pm).
The Déise enter the new season with significant change to their panel, introducing 11 new players to the senior set-up. The additions include talent stepping up from underage ranks, along with players who impressed at club level, bringing fresh energy and increased competition for places within the squad.
The league opener offers an early opportunity for those new faces to make their mark at the Division 1A level as Waterford looks to build momentum from the outset.
Cork, meanwhile, travel to Azzurri Walsh Park without ten of the starting fifteen from last year’s All-Ireland final. Among those unavailable are Katrina Mackey, Pamela Mackey, Méabh Cahalane, Orlaith Cahalane, Aoife Healy, Laura Treacy, Hannah Looney, Laura Hayes, Sorcha McCartan, and Amy O’Connor.
Cliona Healy, Kate Wall, Niamh O’Leary, and Orlaith Mullins are also absent.
Injuries, retirement,s and AFL commitments account for much of the turnover within the Rebels’ squad.
Despite the changes, Cork are expected to build around experienced figures such as Amy Lee, Libby Coppinger, Ashling Thompson, Emma Murphy, and Saoirse McCarthy as they begin their title defence.
With both teams introducing new players and adapting to panel changes, Saturday’s encounter promises to be a competitive and revealing start to the Division 1A campaign.
Throw-in at Azzurri Walsh Park is 2 pm.
