Waterford footballers picked up an important point as they played out an exciting draw with Wicklow in their Division 4 opener at Joule Park, Aughrim yesterday
Waterford played with the aid of a strong breeze in the opening period but the sides wre level at half-time, 0-5 apiece
The home got on top and looked on course for victory but a couple of fine scores from Jason Curry hauled Waterford right back into contention.
Joey Veale pushed Tom McGlinchey's charges in front but Wicklow responded with Seanie Furlong.
It ended Waterford 0-12 Wicklow 0-12.
Déise manager Tom McGlinchey felt it was a positve result and told WLR Sport that the draw was a fair result after a tough battle.
Tom says his side showed great battling qualities to earn a point.
Waterford will face Antrim at home in Round 2 next Sunday, this game will now be played at the WIT Arena, Carriganore.
