Former All-Ireland winner with Wexford Tom Dempsey says Waterford are hurling with huge confidence at the moment.
The Déise will face Munster rivals Cork in Saturday's Allianz National Hurling league Division 1 Final having walloped Wexford in Sunday's semi-final by nineteen points (5-20 to 0-16).
Speaking to WLR Sport after last Sunday's action in UPMC Nowlan Park, Dempsey says Liam Cahill's side are really well drilled:
"I think they're a very fine team, I think if they could get one major title under their belt - the world is their oyster really, I was hugely impressed. It was the almost perfect display really bar Austin maybe losing out with that red card near the end of it. What Waterford came out with was probably one of the best hurling performances I've seen for a great number of years".
Waterford will be seeking a first league title since 2015 (incidentally, it was Cork they defeated to lift that title) on Saturday evening but they won't have Austin Gleeson who misses the game through suspension following his straight red card last Sunday following an off the ball incident with Wexford defender Simon Donohue.
The sides will be meeting in the Munster Championship on May 15th in Walsh Park, but Dempsey says winning silverware at this stage of the season would be a massive lift:
"It is very important for both but at the moment the difference I would see with Waterford are that have no problem playing short when they need to play short, but they play this wonderful cross field long ball when they need to do that and their forwards, Dessie Hutchinson, guys like that - they're brilliant at inter-changing, going forwards and backwards and I just think that they play a more attractive style of hurling at the moment".
Saturday's decider at FBD Semple Stadium is underway at 7:15pm.
WLR will bring you all the action live thanks to George Corbett Skoda, with commentary team Kieran O' Connor and Michael Ryan.
