Waterford FC 1 Shamrock Rovers 2

Waterford slipped to their third league defeat in a row as league champions Shamrock Rovers took all three points in an intriguing game at the RSC.

Keith Long made four changes to the side that lost last week in Drogheda with Ryan Burke coming in for his first start since the Derry game in early June, Kasper Radkowski returned to the centre of defence with Rowan McDonald also back after missing the last three games with injury and illness while Sam Glenfield, the loanee from Fleetwood made his debut.

Rovers dominated from the start and got the breakthrough after just eight minutes when Jack Byrne fed Darragh Nugent who laid the ball into the path of the in rushing Corey O Sullivan and he fired past Louis Jones into the bottom corner.

The Blues got back on level terms on 52 minutes when Rowan McDonald's delightful cross was met by Christie Pattisson and his looping header found the net.
