De La Salle claimed their third Waterford Senior Camogie Championship title in four years after a pulsating 3-9 to 0-13 victory over defending champions Gailltír at the SETU Arena.

Two goals from Maggie Gostl and another from Abby Flynn proved decisive as the Gracedieu side regained the county crown they lost 12 months ago.

Defender Shayla Condon, just 17 years of age, delivered a superb display and was deservedly named Player of the Match.

It was a weekend to remember for Keeley Corbett Barry, who added a senior camogie medal to the ladies football title she won with Comeragh Rangers just a week earlier.

“It’s just unbelievable,” said Corbett Barry afterwards. “I’m so lucky to be part of two clubs that show such heart and commitment. Every one of the girls gives everything — I’m just so proud.”

The dual star praised the intensity of the final and the quality of both teams.

“We knew it would be a battle — any time you play Gailltír, it’s physical and fierce. It was a brilliant game of camogie and credit to both sides.”

Corbett Barry also hailed young star Shayla Condon, whose defensive heroics stood out.

“She’s phenomenal — so young, yet such a role model. She’s like a little terrier in the corner, nothing comes easy off her. It was so well deserved.”

Reflecting on the win after last year’s heartbreak, she added:

“There was a lot of hurt from losing to Gailltír last year. We just took it game by game this time and gave it everything. It’s so sweet to have that cup back in our hands.”

Joint captain Beth Carton echoed those emotions as she lifted the county cup once again.

“It means everything,” said Carton. “You always dream of All-Irelands, but winning with your club is something special. It’s a very hard championship to win, and to do it with this group of girls makes it even better.”

Carton paid tribute to her teammates’ dedication after returning to training early in the year.

“A lot of the girls went back in January — that’s tough to do. There’s a phenomenal group here driving things on, and we’re so lucky as county players to come back into that kind of environment.”

On Player of the Match Condon, Carton added:

“She’s only 17 and in her first county final. To win player of the match — it doesn’t get much better than that.”

Selector John Mullane described this victory as the sweetest of De La Salle’s recent successes.

“That’s three in four years now — and I think this is the best of the three,” he said. “Last year hurt, but credit to the girls. They learned from it and showed serious character.”

He also praised new manager Mark Douglas for maintaining the high standards set by previous boss Conor Murray.

“Mark kept the bar right where Conor left it. We’ve a great management team and an incredible bunch of girls.”

Mullane, who celebrated the win alongside his daughter Abby Flynn, spoke with pride about the squad’s commitment.

“The level of dedication these girls give is extraordinary — their preparation would put some men’s teams to shame. Gailltír are a fantastic side, and you always have to dig deep to beat them.”

And on the goalscorer who sealed it, Mullane smiled:

“Maggie Gostl’s goals were just class — pure class.”

After the heartbreak of 2024, De La Salle showed resilience, teamwork, and class to reclaim the county title. With youth, talent, and leadership throughout their ranks, the Gracedieu club are back on top — and hungry for more.

They now march on to represent Waterford in Munster.
