Cup soccer to whet the weekend appetite

Cup soccer continues here in Waterford this weekend with two days of action across Saturday and Sunday.

The second round of the FAI Junior Cup kicks off on Saturday afternoon with two games down for decision.

At 2 o'clock, Tycor host Tramore, with Bohemians welcoming Portlaw from 5 pm.

In the first round of games, Tycor were 2-0 winners over De La Salle, with Portlaw beating Dungarvan 1-nil in their curtain raiser. While Tramore beat Piltown 1-0.

On Sunday, attention is split between the Munster Youth Cup and the FAI Junior.

All Junior Cup games kick off at 11 am, with four games to be decided.

Ballinroad host Ferrybank, Waterford Crystal welcome Villa, Hibs have Johnville and Kilmacow travel to Southend.

In their opening round, Ballinroad got a walkover from St Saviours, Crystal needed penalties to beat Carrick United with their tie ending 1-1 after regular time, while Villa hammered St Joseph's 9-0.

Hibs were emphatic 6-1 winners over Dunmore East and Ferrybank beat St Pauls 3-1.

Elsewhere on Sunday, the Munster Youth Cup gets going from 2 o'clock. Johnville host Ballinroad, Carrick United welcome Villa and Piltown face Tramore.
