Brickey Rangers GAA Club in West Waterford has been gifted 4.7 acres of land by Coolmore Stud and the Magnier family.

As a result, the club plans to develop a new playing field, a sports hall, and extra parking facilities. The lands form part of a larger 203-acre holding, which is currently on the market through Brian Gleeson Auctioneers.

Brickey Rangers, known locally as ‘The Brickey’s’, draws members from Glenbeg and Carriglea national schools. In addition, the club serves the rural hinterland extending to nearby Dungarvan town. Thanks to the donation, the club’s grounds will increase to approximately 16 acres. Consequently, this expansion will allow for the development of a third playing field and a new sports hall. Importantly, it will also provide additional parking space, improving both safety and access.

Meanwhile, Brian Hilliard, Development Officer for The Brickey’s, welcomed the announcement. He said the club is incredibly grateful to the Magnier family for their generosity. He added that the donation will help transform the club’s facilities for generations to come. Furthermore, it will deliver new and improved amenities, including a planned playing field and sports hall.

Mr Hilliard also said the club was delighted not only with the gift itself, but with the sentiment behind it. He explained that Coolmore wanted to recognise the important role that farming and the GAA play in retaining young people in the area and keeping them active. Indeed, he described it as a fitting gesture, given Coolmore’s rural operations across the globe. Finally, he noted that Coolmore has been a very good neighbour and that the club has enjoyed an excellent relationship with the organisation over the years.
