Conor Kilgannon is the December winner of the Waterford Sports Awards, in association with WLR and the Granville Hotel.
Kilgannon scored six goals in December as Villa secured a league and cup double for the first time in their history. He scored in the 3-0 win against Tramore in the Ardagh Cup Final as well as firing a crucial goal in the FAI Junior Cup win against Newtown Rangers, before grabbing a hattrick in the Munster Junior Cup win against Kilmallock of Limerick.
Kilgannon also found the net for Waterford in their 5-0 win against Munster Senior League in the Oscar Traynor Trophy.
Speaking when accepting the award, Kilgannon said: "It was definitely an unexpected call but I was delighted to hear the news. We've had a very hectic schedule over the last few months - but with that has come a lot of success. It's nice to get a bit of personal recognition on the back of that as well."
Kilgannon and his Villa teammates are still in the Munster Junior Cup and FAI Junior Cup and will be hoping to add to their tally to three trophies and counting this season. He will also represent the Waterford District Junior League selection as they bid to retain the Oscar Traynor Trophy.
"We always set out to go far in the Munster Junior Cup and FAI Junior Cup and this year is no different. After the Christmas break, it'll be business as usual and we'll have our eyes set on going close on all fronts."
Each month, an outstanding sports star will be crowned the winner of the monthly WLR Granville Waterford Sports Awards.
The 12 monthly recipients will then gather for a black-tie Gala Banquet at the Granville Hotel on January 11th 2025, where the first WLR Granville Waterford Sports Star of the Year will be revealed.
